How Merchants can benefit from participation in EAPS

Increased card base

Merchants benefit by being able to accept more cards when participating in EAPS.  EAPS issuers will have the option to limit co-branding with the international card schemes based on their market segmentation model.

Low fees

Merchants benefit from the low EAPS costs.

Improved business case

EAPS achieves interoperability by leveraging the existing highly efficient national infrastructures. Acceptance of EAPS cards can therefore be realised at minimal cost to merchants.

Choice of Acquirers

Merchants are free to choose their acquirer. The increased competition between acquirers will benefit merchants.

Payment Guaranty

EAPS Rules provide a payment guarantee to the merchant issuer. Once a transaction is authorised, merchants benefit from the guarantee.

Use existing terminals and infrastructure

EAPS is built on existing infrastructures and relies on existing European and international security standards. No further investments are therefore required by merchants.
